Mid Century Communications Announces College Scholarship Winners

May 2015 – Mid Century Communications commitment to the communities it serves begins with our young people and the scholarship program is just one part of that. The goal of the scholarship program is to help further higher education opportunities for rural youth. Since 2007 Mid Century has awarded $36,000 to help in furthering higher education for local area youth.

We are excited to announce, in 2015, we awarded four $1000 College Scholarships to the following students:

  • Brittany Borries – Williamsfield High School
  • Amanda Rollins – ROWVA High School
  • Lauren Southwood – Astoria High School
  • Vanessa Williams – Bushnell/Prairie City High School

Scholarship recipients were selected by an independent team of reviewers from the education field outside the service area.
Mid Century offers two scholarship opportunities to the youth in our area:

  • Foundation for Rural Service, a national program
  • Mid Century Communications, a local program

We encourage students to apply for both scholarships. Both scholarship programs are open to all graduating high school seniors that receive their telecommunication service from Mid Century. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year college, vocational or technical school and have at least a C-grade point average.
